David Crews (davidcrewspoetry.com) serves as editor for The Stillwater Review and director of the Silconas Poetry Center at Sussex County College. He is author of the poetry collection High Peaks (Ra Press, 2015), as well as a new book of lyric essays on the Adirondacks titled Wander-Thrush (Ra Press, 2018).

Brendan Wiltse is conservation and nature photographer based in Saranac Lake, NY. Brendan holds a Ph.D. in limnology from Queen's University and is the Science & Stewardship Director for the Ausable River Association. He also sits on the board of The Waterman Fund and is a co-founder of Adirondack Wilderness Advocates.

Emily Almendarez is a Latinx writer/organizer from Los Angeles and the proud daughter of immigrants from Guatemala and Honduras. A third-year Yale College student, Emily is Co-President of MEChA de Yale, a member of the Yale Refugee Project, and a section editor for DOWN Magazine.

Rachel Gulbraa is a 2018 graduate of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, where she focused on conservation and science communication. In addition to serving as an editor for SAGE Magazine, she was Director of Programming for the 2016 Environmental Film Festival at Yale (EFFY). With experience as an archaeology technician, outdoor educator, and community forester, she is interested in the many motivations that drive different people to support environmental initiatives, and believes that lasting conservation success depends on having an informed and invested public.

Penn Chan is a photographer and cinematographer whose work ranges from documentary to fine art photography with thematic interests in alienation, globalization, technological mysticism, and the Anthropocene. Penn is a Master of Fine Arts candidate in photography at the Yale School of Art.

Emily Dolhansky is pursuing a Master’s of Forest Science degree at F&ES —where the first wildland firefighters were trained. Her research focuses on the regeneration of fire-adapted forests in the Northeastern U.S.

Joshua is a PhD candidate at the University of Vermont, where he studies non-material benefits from healthy ecosystems, and environmental policy. He graduated from F&ES with a MEScin 2017. In his free time, Joshua loves exploring the woods with his dog Pepper.

Courtney L. Sexton is a 2018 recipient of a D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities Fellowship. Her work has been featured in The Fourth River, High Country News, Sierra, Earth Island Journal,and elsewhere. She received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

Michael O. Snyder is a photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on the intersections of social justice and environmental sustainability and has been featured in magazines and galleries by National Geographic, High Country News, and others. He holds a Master of Environmental Science degree.

Susan Wider’s writing has appeared in Orion, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Lighthouse Digest, Bird’s Thumb, and The Magazine among others. She is currently at work on several art and nature-based book projects. She lives outside Santa Fe, N M with an assortment of hawks, coyotes, rabbits, snakes, bobcats, and a husband. Susan is represented by Stimola Literary Studio.

Shams-il Arefin Islam is working to bring his interdisciplinary background in business and environmental sciences to an innovative grid system GHG emissions sensing project in the United States. Prior to Yale, Shams worked as a Project Manager for Ashoka Fellows on agricultural based climate mitigation projects in Bangladesh, and for Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Yunus on Social Entrepreneurship for poor communities. In his free time, he writes music that showcases the beauty of our planet. Shams is a 2017 graduate of Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
